Lions and tigers and bunnies – oh my!

Does anyone else out there have bunnies that are (somewhat) peacefully coexisting with other animals like maybe a sheepadoodle like Wilson? Blue has his own room (what was previously my office) but Wilson loves to visit. I started introducing him when he was just a puppy which resulted in a lot of me pinning Wilson to the ground, grabbing his muzzle and saying “NO! YOU DO NOT SNAP AT THE BUNNY!” Fortunately, Wilson is a smart sheepadoodle (half Old English Sheepdog/half poodle) and outgrew that puppy-like tendency to pounce. He does still love to play chase though but Blue is a total willing participant. I know there are some out there who will say that rabbits are prey animals and that Blue isn’t playing, he’s running in fear for his life. Those of us experienced bunny-owners know our bunnies best though and I can tell you that Blue is definitely not afraid. There is no grunting, no ears back, no wide eyes, no thumping. Instead he will sit there and then come flying at Wilson and binky half way there while shaking his tail as if to say “can’t catch me!” A plus is that Blue basically never has to come out into the open if he doesn’t want to. Between his tunnels, assorted castles, and his chair (MY Chair as he refers to is), he basically has is own rabbit warren. It’s very amusing to watch them together. The only hard part? Literally dragging Wilson out (and he weighs almost 60 pounds) while he makes himself a dead weight because he doesn’t want to leave! How about you? Any successful or un-successful unusual bunny friendships to share?
Check out some of these animal friendships too for some a heartwarming read!
